April 9th Scholarships are awarded to honor the memory of our Fallen Heroes in theater with ties to the Ohio–Kentucky–Indiana Tri-State area. The Yellow Ribbon Support Center has provided funds for scholarships granted to deserving students in the name of each of our local soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. We must never forget the men and women who have given the ultimate…we must remember their names, their faces and their spirit.

Scholarships are set up according to the wishes of the fallen soldier’s family. The family nominates the school or organization of their choice and works with the school or organization’s administrators to determine criteria for earning the scholarship. Families are encouraged to participate each year in electing the recipient of the award to keep the spirit of their fallen soldiers at the forefront.

Once the April 9th Scholarship committee is notified of the family’s nominated school, a cashier’s check is presented to recipient. The amount awarded is determined by amounts raised during the year and the success of the annual fundraiser and the participation of the families of each Fallen Hero.

Every year the Yellow Ribbon Support Center organizes a dinner to generate monies for these scholarships on or close to April 9th, the anniversary of SSG Matt Maupin’s capture. Our scholarship program is dependent on monies raised during this annual fundraiser and donations from people, just like you, who believe we must never forget the cost of freedom.

Please consider being our partner in this deserving program. You can help by donating and/or volunteering for the April 9th fundraiser. Corporate sponsors are welcome. Please call Yellow Ribbon Support Center at (513) 752-4310 or June Izzi Bailey at (513) 831-1651 for details.

            Let us never forget.
